CAMP RICSTAR tells the story of the Eric 'RicStar' Winter Music Therapy Summer Camp, created to honor Eric Richard Winter, a child with cerebral palsy who had a remarkable gift for music. For over 20 years, RicStar's Camp has provided life-changing opportunities for musical expression, performance and social interaction for hundreds of individuals with disabilities.
Sam McConnell (director, producer) and Lukas Hauser (writer, producer, editor) have made several award-winning documentaries with their production company and were moved to tell the story of CAMP RICSTAR after learning of Eric Winter's story in 2019.
Executive Producers Dick and Judy Winter are Michigan natives and co-founders of RicStar's Camp, which was created in tribute to their son Eric. Judy is also a nationally recognized author and disability activist.
